CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY

Corinne Hale is a doctoral student in cultural anthropology, with a focus on medical anthropology. Her research explores the intersection of reproductive health and migration and the complex layers of racism, xenophobia, and neoliberalism that affect the reproductive lives of migrants. Her upcoming dissertation fieldwork considers maternal health practices and systems of care among Haitian migrants and immigrants in the Dominican Republic.

Corinne earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from North Carolina State University. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she has earned a Master of Arts in Anthropology and a Master’s in Public Health. During her time at UW, Corinne has supported four research studies through UW’s Collaborative for Reproductive Equity (CORE) regarding abortion provision in the Midwest. Her research has been financially supported by the Scott Kloeck-Jenson Pre-Dissertation Travel Fellowship, two academic year Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships, the Region V Public Health Training Center, the Global Health Institute Research Award, the Holtz Center Travel Award, and the Department of Anthropology Conference Travel Award.
